Do not need all this way to be able to enjoy the food from this German state. Paulaner Brauhaus, the world famous restaurant chain, operates the restaurant with the concept of Bavaria at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta.

One time we tried Paulaner Brauhaus. Once we entered the restaurant space, the eye was greeted with a warm atmosphere all the interior wood-paneled room, from floor to walls. Tables and chairs where the guests enjoy lunch or dinner is also made of wood with the design of plain, simple, without carving. On the wall mounted several paintings of people in medieval Bavaria.

Heike Helm, manager of the restaurant, greeted us with a skirt overalls stacked with bulging arm detail. “This is a traditional Bavarian dress,” said Heike is a German.

We sat in a dim lighted room while conversing. A female waitress, who was dressed like Heike, thrusting menus to book. For starters, there are options such as fried sausages with a taste gurihnya Emmental cheese is not so oppressive.

Meat department

Most foods made from raw meat Bavarian people. Because the weather was so cold in Bavaria, not many vegetables or spice plants growing in Bavaria. This condition makes only a little wear Bavarian food seasonings and really rely on the main ingredient.

Curious by Bavarian meat dishes, we also tried to order a cooked beef goulash with spaetzle or some kind of macaroni. Not imagined before, like what a dish that became one of the special menu at this restaurant.

While spending fried sausage, we also continue the conversation in the room was dimly lit. Once the beef goulash served in front of the eye, it can not wait to taste it. As a substitute for rice eating friend, the restaurant provides that has been mashed potatoes or pasta smeared Swabian cheese melting. Unlike Italian pasta, this Swabian pasta shaped like kwetiauw wide.

At first glance, the appearance looks like rendang beef goulash, which is a lot of spices and meat berbalur blackish brown color. But once you enter into the tongue taste, cooking it just purely tasteless meat. If you want to get a taste savory, beef goulash should be eaten along with the Swabian pasta.

A serving of beef goulash nearly filled a large platter used for serving food. It seemed more fitting portion of these two people to eat. Heike said, eating a lot of this in accordance with the Bavarian posture on average larger than other Germans.

Sauerkraut

According to Heike, beef goulash with sauerkraut can be eaten. Foods made from chopped cabbage and sour taste of this, if in Indonesia may be equated with side dishes of pickles as a friend. Only if the pickle is only considered suitable for some cooking only, not the case with sauerkraut. “In Bavaria, no food was served without sauerkraut,” said Heike.

Although the Paulaner Brauhaus is a brand from overseas, said Hanny Wahyuni from Paulaner Brauhaus, mostly raw materials for the restaurant was imported from Indonesia, including chicken and beef, except Wagyu beef imported from Australia. “70 percent of our use of local raw materials, the new remainder was imported from Germany,” said Hanny.
